Who we are

Caribarte: Visual Arts Encounters is an annual festival that takes place in Montreal in the fall. Our programming connects visual artists with the public through exhibitions, talks and educational activities. We also hold a mid-year event series in the summer, called *Image to the Eye*.

History of the festival

Caribarte: Visual Arts Encounters was founded in 2023 as part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of CIDIHCA, a Montreal based organization dedicated to the dissemination and representation of contemporary Caribbean and Afro-Canadian realities.

The mission

A group of emerging artists from CIDIHCA created the Caribarte visual arts festival with the mission of developing the visual arts and proposing a reconstruction of the view of contemporary image practices in accordance with the world of conjunctions and crossbreeding in which we live.

Vision

Caribarte is interested in subjects universally addressed by modern artistic reflection, while favoring the introduction of new aesthetics in the treatment of subjects. We encourage visual productions at the limits of comfort zones.
